There is something aggressive
in the heart of a man: a warrior heart. Think of your
favorite movies and why you love them: Braveheart, Gladiator, The
Last Samurai, or The Lord of the Rings.
From boyhood to this day, we men long for a battle to fight, and a good weapon at our side. It
has always been so. Whether that weapon is the Samurai’s longbow, or the
modern technical prowess of a swift compound, a man’s aggression must have
somewhere to go.
Unless that aggression, that addictive call to battle and valor, is hooked up to a
Larger Story, it is at best self-indulgent, and at worst tragically
misdirected.
There is a Larger Story, a Great Battle. As C.S. Lewis says, you were “born into a world at
war:” a clash of kingdoms. And you are needed … desperately. There is a
Warrior King whose heart is fierce love, aggressive affection. He is Jesus,
and His offer is a meaningful life, and the chance to join Him in a most
worthy cause. At Addicted to Archery, we reserve our highest
addiction and devotion for this Warrior King.
We hope that you enjoy archery as much as
we do but we wish to remind you (and ourselves) that it needs to be kept in
balance. We believe that our primary devotion needs to be to God to achieve
the right balance in our lives. With this balance, we can enjoy God’s
creation when out shooting and share the experience with family and friends
without loosing sight of our purpose here on earth. Please feel free to talk
to us about our highest passion.
